The heater in the car could be wonderful. The hills and apple farms of upstate NY were beautiful. The rent was quite cheap. Nevertheless, the tuiton waiver and small salary were not sufficient for the enormous heating bills. Hence, more student loans. But one could feel especially grateful for a down feather comforter there. It was also the state of many early childhood memories. A special place.
