Is when you sit outside on a bench with your back to a courthouse and feel someone watching and thinking "she doesn't want to be here" and later when you exit with your slip of paper the person who is now inside stares at you almost at the very top of the staircase and you feel surprised and maybe a bit vulnerable like a kindergartener holding a paper drawing, and a part of you wants to ignore any intense feeling but truthfully it is like you are carrying him down the steps through security and out of the courthouse, this complete stranger whose name you'll never know, until you turn the corner when you are fully outside and have your own day back.
