Sometimes it looks like outer success as a woman still depends a lot on Being Willfully Ignorant of the plight of other women.
The patriarchy very obviously liked you better if you laughed at a roofies joke before the MeToo movement. Or if you went along with "she was probably lying to get attention." Some nice women were really good at that.
Being that sensitive person who felt the pain of rape victims was not what the patriarchy wanted from you. Being the patriarchy's friend by having no feelings for victims of violence was and still is rewarded by the patriarchy.
Paychecks happen.
Even after MeToo, the patriarchy likes you so much better if you go back to tending to a man's feelings first.
Maybe it's better to find other people to think about when you start feeling this way.
Maybe this is what came up after having a dream that a teacher and a student who needed to be tutored were the same person. One was the younger version and one was the older version.
The student was a younger woman. The teacher was a woman. That was what the dream was about.
The patriarchy is ugly, oppressive, and loves your father 20 times more. Your father is also nicer than a lot of guys. He is a guy, though. Those are the the people who are supposed to... (fill in the blank). But even a lot men who seem to benefit still suffer under the patriarchy. You see that if you look more closely.

Not the average dream
I was floating around like a spirit in a green, mountainous forest, and there was evidence that all had not been well for the inhabitants. Several times I saw the remains of deceased people, but I also kept seeing a young woman who was alive. I felt seen, and so I finally went towards her. She had a piece of paper, and it had things written on it in Spanish about freedom and human rights. She gave it to me as we were next to a very steep drop-off, and I told her I don't think I can go down that way. She agreed but it seemed she had no other instructions, except for "I think this gringa should find a different way down" (back to towns/ civilization).

Trivially interesting
Oh it is Friday and music is on the radio. The guy who did trivia night more than a decade ago asked the patrons if something was "Porn Star" or "My Little Pony."

Well only one of those songs always makes me think of being 8-years-old in a backseat with other kids. It is almost in the category of "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" or "Red Red Wine," except at least those you can sing along to when they come on the radio without an adult getting mad about it.

A woman and a girl came into the restaurant and gave me a poster with information about domestic abuse and a hotline number to call and asked if I would ask my bosses to put it up in the back to help any who might need.
My horrible, sexist male bosses did not care. They threw it away. Maybe if the president acted like he cared they would care. It seems not so different now.

Wonder what year it was

Now here, in the red and white striped shirt, he rants a bit against taking pills, but I will take Berberine capsules again after the scale said I am xx heavier than I was at the doctor's office less than a year ago, and maybe my old Metformin (not at the same time as Berberine), except that I read there's been a recall on some of those since I got them, so, hmmmm....maybe just the Berberine.
