"Next time I will just do it by mail"

Approach polling place with mail in ballot because that's okay this time.

1st pollworker says the machine says I have to vote provisionally, then gives me a pink envelope and a ballot, but the machine won't accept it.

2nd poll worker re-registers me and says nothing about voting provisionally but I still have the pink envelope. Machine accepts the ballot.

Allow 3rd guy to help me and he casts the ballot just to see if it will work. Machine accepts the ballot. I ask if I can just return the pink envelope and he says yes.

I go to return the pink envelope and the 4th pollworker purses her lips and shakes her head and tells me the vote might not be counted. "You shouldn't have done that."
