Next time character x makes a point to spy on character y, not be polite or make conversation (unlike other characters, by the way, who I think were, at least more curious about making actual contact), character y should not say that is just because she is strangely insecure that I sat next to her son on an airplane, instead character y will "think positive" and say "how quirky! wait, that's not xenophobia, she's just rushing off to perform some great and charitable contribution to better the whole of society" is that better?
