Lemme guess, just like with some poor people, some wealthy people had a shallow abusive untrustworthy parent who instilled fear in his family and mostly valued children and women for selfish, superficial reasons.

Now, some of the guy's outwardly privileged but inwardly deprived offspring, who never got substantial healing from their childhood wounds,  just continue the patterns of dad, as is apparent in their words and actions.
