Brazil and America

The "Trump of the Tropics" is an Army dude.

"'I'd prefer [to see] a son of mine to die in an accident than [to be] a homosexual," he told Playboy in a 2011 interview."

"In 2016, he provoked outrage by remarking that a fellow lawmaker was not worth raping because he thought she was 'very ugly' and not his 'type'."

"He has also described having a female child as a "weakness", and said that he would not employ women equally because "[they] get more labour rights than men". "

"Mr Bolsonaro has dismissed the criticism of these comments as "political correctness"."

"'Political correctness is a thing of leftist radicals," he said in an interview with daily newspaper Correio Braziliense in June. 'I am one of the most attacked persons.'"

"Even in prison, Lula remains extremely popular. Born in poverty, Lula became a labor activist who opposed the military dictatorship in the 1980s. After two terms as president, he left office with an approval rating over 80 percent. He is the only presidential candidate with widespread support and leads by a large margin in polls in which he is included."

However, there has been liberal corruption, etc. etc. Alas...

"Many Brazilians are ambivalent about democracy."
