There are three. The older friendly loud one, and the shy brother and sister. However, sister is not so shy after you shake the treat bag. It takes forever for the shy brother to emerge from his hiding place. Sometimes he doesn't come out at all. The friendly loud one wants attention and acts like a king, but when the shy brother and sister both come out, something happens. After they warm up to you and eat a few treats, brother and sister are very playful, and then the king cat kind of sulks and goes away and is less friendly. All of a sudden, you have to switch gears and act as if the king cat is "the shy one." He will ignore treats and entreaties to play if the brother and sister have been dominating the "stage" (the floor of the kitchen) for quite a while...oh, was Patience was written for such moments...When you leave, the brother and sister will once again be in retreat. But the king cat will hang around and consider making for the exit, even though it's a very cold and windy night.
