Imagining this scenario:
People on trauma ~ well of course we hope someone helps fix it that's not our immediate problem well it's a societal problem but goodness knows we can't deal with it right now but hopefully it will get better.
People on any hint of juicy soap opera-style infidelity ~ now you have our immediate attention!
It says something about the way the human mind is wired, no?
