Finding new music again.

FOALS ~ "Neptune"

It is the kind of music that reminds you to work out what you can do with your inheritance,  like how sometimes people can enjoy exercising because it releases endorphins and such...and by letting the mind wander, the weirdest things come back sometimes. Staring at a gigantic Xerox machine in an office in the 1980s and trying to decipher the mysteries of the adult world. There was a child who was curious about such things. That is different from the child who watched the barista working at the espresso cart, or the one who found it painful to even have a small exchange with the cashier on the ferry boat, or the one who got entranced by all the colorful cosmetics in the drugstore, or still wanted to play with a wooden toy train, or learn about Tarot, or...

(THIS WAS CREATIVELY ORIENTED MODE)

It's good between youse guys now but

just wait until one of youse becomes an unwed mother in the next life UNLESS things change! Drastically! For the BETTER!!!!!

Bird sounds

Heard a mourning dove, an owl, many I cannot identify, and a rooster.

Someone is keeping chickens out here in the suburbs.

So I was thinking about how my life threw some interesting xperiences at me, and how sometimes I suffered because of not feeling understood, and I know I need to develop the parts of me that love nature and also the parts that have a more spiritual outlook on things.

Just sitting outdoors and listening to the creatures that make songs in the early morning helps me get in touch with all of that.

~~~~~
I was walking around and feeling that story come back and thinking about how 15 or 16 in another time and culture is what 18 or 19 is to us now.
Maybe it's because
There's an undercurrent...it goes...drive behind the car that has the "Rad Not Rich" license plate holder and I say, so I remember it late at night, and wonder why I was trained to have a humble life while others were encouraged to put more things out into the world (isn't it strange) and when I was a younger person falling asleep to a tape of classical music in Michigan wasn't I in touch with something kinda out there but great as well. Night...
I'll just be simple for an evening
hamburger pickle wine icecream ///// or a little too much burger this time but next time will be more optimal and salad and no ice cream or wine because I think it's possible my supplements help make sweets not as appealing sometimes SIMPLY DELUSIONAL TO THINK DINNER TONIGHT could be simple but that's okay it will be simpler another time
Leaves, beaches...
I appreciate the trees...I am supposed to move soon, and then they won't be next to me anymore...the sun makes me think of the beach. 🌊 πŸ– ⛱
SneezeπŸ’‘ ideas
What else is there to pursue in life? Learning to appreciate nature or to play music could be a better use of time.
There are reasons this resonates.
Wham! - "Everything She Wants
One reason it resonates could be because it is like a personality talking to the muse. Saying, what do you want from me? What do you want me to make? It hasn't been so much about the money. Something else, maybe.
There was a younger self who was sometimes teased, but also befriended by fairer and thinner girls, who suffered a moment of such low-self-esteem that when she admired the shadow of a girl with long bouncing hair, the automatic reaction was that she would never be like that...
Guess what, that's your own shadow you were looking at.
Whatever happened to wreaths and trumpets
Slightly relieved...the park of colorful classic cars & watermelon beach balls was obstructed by traffic snarls...an ache in the mouth near a crown triggered a fear of death due to medical neglect...not far from the mind were immigrant workers and low income women who are most likely to suffer...some guy on the radio, with his cheery celebrate-the-male-veterans-sounding-voice made me very aware of feeling stuck in a lower place in the world...needed to change whatever created that headspace of despair...might burn some sage and drink water and be thankful the mouth feels better now and try some other sort of excursion later.
That's May for you
Would like to be taking advantage of the not-too-hot weather to travel towards a nature excursion, but sometimes video games interfere with people's sleep schedules, so I guess it's an alright time to begin a tiny little project:
Blue Jean Blurry Beauty Queens
Hey, kid, I went home and found out this song was a lot older than I thought it was. Because I thought it was a Def Leppard 1980s or early 90s type of thing. What a mix-up.
"Alongside all the predictable archetypes, you’ll also discover a statue dedicated to The Naughty Princess, a tale of a spirited girl who played by her own rules. This being the moralistic world of fairy tales, she of course gets her comeuppance and is turned into a parrot, but simply having a female lead breaking social norms feels like a small win for feminist bibliophiles."
Sounds like the voice of the not asking too much generation.
21st century problems
"The strictures apply even for migrants whose pregnancy is the result of rape, despite the shockingly high rates of sexual assault that migrants experience on the harrowing journey to the U.S. border, as well as the prevalence of sexual violence in their home countries."
"Raquel,* 12, is the daughter of tomato pickers in Immokalee, Florida. In March, she and her sister Maria* travelled to New York City with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ (CIW) five-day Freedom Fast, where they joined 100 farmworkers and 24 children of farmworkers in an effort to bring attention to the group’s campaign to urge Wendy’s to sign on to their Fair Food Program. The group fasted on Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, sometimes chanting loudly, sometimes silently, some with their mouths covered by wide black tape. Even while hungry in the snow and rain, the fasters displayed bravery, conviction, and a grounded strength. Raquel and Maria don’t work in the fields, although they did try it out when they were eight and 10. Their father disapproved of the idea, but the girls persisted and went to harvest tomatoes one day. “I thought I would like it but after the first day, I was like ‘No. I can’t believe people are doing this,’” Raquel says. 'It’s like a nightmare.' But the girls aren’t just disturbed by long days spent doing back-breaking labor. 'Rape is one of my biggest fears,' says Raquel. 'I’m haunted by the idea of it.' Maria says she is, too. And they’re not alone."
An okay or pretty nice girl
&
her boyfriend who seemed nice, too, until he and I had to get into an argument about his limited, bratty, selfish, hurtful views which some other agents must have instilled in him throughout his life.
Other women just get away with making excuses and receiving short-term benefits from not getting too controversial.
Whatever did his pamperedness grow up to become when he was constantly rewarded for mediocrity and no one expected anything better.
Say something to make an insecure man wiser
Whole supposedly comfortable lifestyles are based on habits that were rooted in fear and dishonesty and looking away and relying on a truly self-limiting cushioning of "safety." That's a response to being taught that ignoring other people's experiences is the way to go about doing things.
Society said
That One is a Man, so he gets told that he gets to act out how society's screwed-up standards have affected him however he pleases, penalty-free.
That One is a woman, so she should bear witness and get penalized. Again. Not like this hasn't happened before. Not so Coddled, like he is.
That's just too bad for her.
Unless of course she Coddles Man who Acts Out and finds a way to get some benefit out of society's screwed up standards at the expense of lots and lots of others.
It's been another patriarchal experience
Patriarchy takes people who were good once and just warps them.
https://thecomicscomic.com/2019/12/05/conan-obriens-high-school-letter-to-e-b-white/
I hope the venerated E.B. White hasn't reincarnated into a forgotten immigrant child picking fruit for people who used to be better at certain things.
Why even bother telling the fearful one who turned himself into narcissist-on-purpose that he could change and do so better when he'll just make jokes about it to manipulate the cult-like followers who act like children who don't know any better even though I think some of them do know better sometimes.
Dreams...
Just imagine a day when your brother and a lot of the people he's chosen to surround himself with realize that they warped themselves as they got older, because they were constantly rewarded (in truly superficial ways) with mistreating and discounting others throughout their lives. They cheated themselves, and those behaviors could have improved sooner.
And maybe then they can stop needlessly inflicting their damaging ways onto others, and nicer experiences will be the result.
Me in highschool, and a nameless guy I think of as Mexican and possibly an immigrant who had a locker next to me, acting like he he had a crush on me, then acting sad and saying "okay I won't bother you anymore but I want you to know you have a beautiful smile" and then, on another day, giving me some kind of intense pep talk about my beauty.
My own light-headedness won
my attention very quickly this morning.
I do like celery though
And I might even find out more about what The Medical Medium has to say about the juice this summer????
About...
I saw some antiques yesterday
I feel like I, too, could experience a jaded older man phase, like something from another lifetime, perhaps including whiskey or cigars or laughing heartily at all the jokes, if in this dream my memory also got wiped out because someone dropped a brick on my head.
Need need NEED to fix the subject content
Will make it easier to find next time. Martha Gellhorn.
She has a Wikipedia entry.
"In 2012, Gellhorn was played by Nicole Kidman in Philip Kaufman's film, Hemingway & Gellhorn."
Well okay, but how on earth can you fail to include the actual person's name in the subject headings?
Couldn't find it, couldn't find it...Oh there it is.
D. Garner:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/12/books/review-travels-with-myself-and-another-martha-gellhorn.html?
"There is excellent writing in this book about flying on Chinese airlines in the early 1940s, bouncing in the air 'like a butterfly in a hurricane.' Landing strips, when located, were lit by flare pots. On one flight Hemingway carried with him a folding menstrual cup, from which he sipped gin.
Gellhorn gives an account of using the toilet while on another flight in China. It was 'behind a green curtain' and 'gave a small circular view of the ground below.'
Some of this book's rolling comic tone comes from the author's experiences with toilets (or the lack of them) across remote regions. Inevitably they are either overflowing or the room has spiders; one loo 'ejects water at the sides.'
'I planned to go mad,' she writes after one filthy toilet experience. At another point, while in Chad, she reports, 'The latrine broke my lion heart.' She couldn't face it, so she wandered out on the sand in her nightgown.
Gellhorn was always on the lookout for epiphanies, and on this night she had one. She 'saw, drugged with sleep and shivering, the great African sky which I have been seeking -- a riot of stars, velvet black, felt as an arch, and the air seeming to glint with starshine.'
She loathed big-game hunters and all despoilers of nature. She was constitutionally anti-authority. 'I mistrust power for myself and everyone else, especially power bestowed by race, creed or color.'
Among her observations about the power dynamics in romance is that people are often pried apart by 'boredom, the real killer in human relations. We do not laugh at the same jokes. We bore each other sick.'
No one will have trips quite like these again. The world has become a smaller place; it is harder to get as thoroughly lost as Gellhorn frequently did. The size of her expense account with Collier's, necessary to escape from tough situations, will rarely be seen again either."
"Lady Gaga on How Her Rape, Pregnancy, and Trauma Led to Chronic Pain" | SELF
"The term is a misnomer, because at six weeks of gestation there is neither a fetus nor a heartbeat. Indeed, there is no heart. At six weeks, the pregnancy consists of an embryo, which will not develop into a fetus for nearly another month. No heart, and no other organ, is present. The so-called 'heartbeat' that abortion opponents refer to is actually the pulsing of some cells that are starting to specialize, and which will eventually form cardiac tissue if the pregnancy continues. At the phase of pregnancy when abortions are banned by the new Texas legislation, the embryo is about the size of a pea. There are no exceptions for rape or incest."
Films...they can help.
I thought this & about how it felt much better to listen to an interviewer talking to an actor about that one ground-breaking film, because listening to them was actually inspiring, and I was happy the movie helped them express their viewpoints. Whereas what I heard in a different interview the other day (and I didn't listen to the whole thing) was not on the same level at all as far as communicating deep respect or understanding of some people's traumatic experiences. It mostly made me think about how the messages you receive growing up can affect you for a long time, and how the interviewer changes his tone depending on who he's interviewing.
I wonder about places
Moab, Utah because I camped there when I was young...Sheeps dung became coals for fires...Water holes and waterfalls...
I wonder about the hot springs I've not yet seen...
I have seen this one...
I have found some beautiful things
An egg poacher (I wouldn't buy one, but now I could try using it!) And I love some matching ceramic bowls and cups that were brought up when my back was injured.
Voice:::::::: OH, well, you see, music tells me I've probably been a man before, and also a woman before, and I'm sure there are so many other possibilities, but DEFINITELY NOT BORN OR RAISED LIKE A MAN IN THIS LIFE, and I wonder why this topic is more threatening to some people than the topic of being transgender, and I have some ideas as to why that might be...
Actually, I take part of that back. A lot of us were raised to be more like a man, even more than we realized.
"Sanders, who eventually condemned the 'Bernie Bro' behavior, understood something that Yang, who’s stayed silent while his supporters harass women online, refuses to: While you can’t control your supporters, as the candidate, you set the boundaries of what’s acceptable and what isn’t. When Yang allows a group of men to refer to women as “b*tches,” he leads by example. When he laughs at the thought of choking us, he sets a tone that his supporters can’t help but follow. And trust me, they do follow."
Well, pretend that's true, and this information will suddenly become more valuable to you.
When olden ways sadden
It still looks so much like women are being encouraged (or perhaps even groomed) to devalue other women and their experiences.
So much patriarchal  ego coddling. So much on purpose not seeing things.
I live with someone who grew up Catholic and he manages to be a pretty nice and open-minded person anyhow. Yes, maybe that is because humility does not frighten him.
Some people have ginormous fears of being disrespected and tempers to match and manipulative behavior patterns. I sometimes lived with them growing up.
Men with those problems can sap your energy. Then and now.
What a wonderful world...
I really love how I live with a laid-back person.
It is...nifty.
