Sorry religion

I know the unbalanced religion-infused patriarchy hurts both sexes a lot. I wish I could undo the mutilation of the mind that occurs when a girl's beloved female relatives teach her from a most impressionable age to worship a masculine deity.

LESSON:
Don't eat 1/2 box of organic mac & cheese before bed or you'll wake up feeling ill and very thirsty.

MEMORY:  Well even though it was scary when that engine trouble happened, at least a friendly helpmate was nearby. Instead of jetting off to Graceland, helper fellow made absolutely sure I had access to a phone charger and a safe ride to the airport hotel. Helper brother was so nice to me, I swear I almost felt like a thin, blond woman. HAHA YEAH.

Quotable and suitable

"An elderly woman in aisle A turned to look at me, and I pulled a Times crossword puzzle from the bag beneath my seat. That always makes you look reasonable, especially on a Saturday, when the words are long and the clues are exceptionally tough. The problem is that you have to concentrate, and all I could think of was this Becky person."

"Seventeen across: a fifteen-letter word for enlightenment. 'I am not an asshole,' I wrote, and it fit."

"Five down: six-letter Indian tribe. 'You are.'"

"Look at that smart man, breezing through the puzzle, I imagined everyone thinking. He must be a genius."

~ D. Sedaris, "Solution to Saturday's Puzzle," When You Are Engulfed In Flames

She was really smart and fun

I just felt like looking her up and found her. She was on the island for a while. The last time I saw her was somewhere in Northern Cali (1990ish?) when I slept over at her house after she moved away. Looks like she did change her last name but her maiden name is still there! I hope she's doing well.

Perhaps it was near here???

Spa thoughts

I really feel like sometimes when people have residual trauma, they hold it in their bodies, and then it comes out at inopportune moments, so they could probably find some benefit if they work with good energy healers or bathe in a lake of salt or something.

The status quo view of women is reductive and damaging. You can be a winner at not making anymore excuses for people's joy-killing sexism.

Old but engaging

A litany of things that I am too bored to mention was making me feel gloomy but a slight bit of cheer crept in for I heard a few bars of an old song in a drugstore and then looked up the video (so fun! Is there any better invention than YouTube?) and decided that Bruce Springsteen, pretending to be poor, lying under a blue car, getting ready to work on a rich lady's white car, is probably acting out his own embodiment of a male organ, but I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I mean it in a really respectful way.

And on every single shelf and around the printer.

It should be better

I am sorry to say it, but most people in society at large just do not care at all about women's health. No wonder body issues are rampant in teenage girls and women.

People who think they are feminist still just blithely toss off incredibly patriarchal and hurtful statements about having kids and weight issues and seem to lack even a basic sensitivity about fertility issues and how they can effect a person's life.

This is why life is difficult to get through at times. This is why you have to be strong, not succumb to despair,  and dream of a better time and better healthcare and more respect for women.

Do wealthy people think it's a good idea to drive a vehicle whose emblem looks like squished reproductive organs in thin alien women. Maybe I give up. Maybe some situations are just to be learned from whether or not they are absolutely "healthy." How did I end up here. In the prestigious Fairfax County highschool I attended (where 93 was considered a B+ instead of an A-) we unfortunately watched Fast Times At Ridgemont High in government class. How prescient. Why couldn't we have watched that "rosebud" movie.

This is creative.

Nature is like an energy force you can be in a relationship with.

Someone put Olive - You're Not Alone with clips of a young man cycling in the mountains and powerful scenes of nature.

I didn't remember those parts of Donnie Darko. I have not seen that film in a long time.

DD Director's cut intro

She's the boss

My body is. This I know. For my body told me so.

I woke up with a hint of pain. Just a hint. I scrambled in (slight) panic for the tea and ginger. It's not that bad, but it's enough. My body is super demanding of me when she wants to be. Oh, she says. So you think that's cute?  Imagine your body can turn into a military general at a moment's notice. This is what you get... I did eat some cake. I went swimming yesterday. Later I saw the set-up for a wedding and for part of it there was a huge cake. Very fancy. I just threw away the rest of that slice I bought at the store.

This is not fair. I feel sorry for myself when this happens. I really do. How come I have to deal with this crap? Others can be more frivolous. Why do I get the special prize of this particular type of demanding body. The body seems egotistical sometimes. Or maybe the body is a messenger. Be good. There was genocide. You will not be allowed to take this lightly.

onto another story rock

I don't think I read this one yet...
https://www.walden.org/remembrances-of-emerson-excerpts-on-thoreau/

But it's fun.

"I observed that he was much at home with Emerson; and as he remained through the afternoon and evening, and I left him still at the fireside, he appeared to me to belong in some way to the household. I observed also .that Emerson continually deferred to him and seemed to anticipate his view, preparing himself obviously for a quiet laugh at Thoreau's negative and biting criticisms, especially in regard to education and educational institutions. He was clearly fond of Thoreau; but whether in a human way, or as an amusement, I could not then make out."

~ John Albee

stories running together

I feel like that universe gave me access to a Beatrice/Ludovico story but also an Isabella/Albert one. They were both about people in positions of power and arranged marriages that actually did include love, but they were also very different. B/L: more emotional, innovative, passionate, involved kids, jealousy, tragedy, disaster. I/A: cooler, less innovative, no kids or huge tragedy, but productive (as a partnership) and more balanced. Also though, both were riddled with aristocratic oppression, and not to be repeated. Some of the clothing people wore back then looks so uncomfortable. It makes me gag. So if one story has more innovation and the other has more balance, it would be interesting to take both of those energies and make something new out of them...

Another piece

I got to see some baby birds today and then I had another insight. It was about a woman giving birth (probably Beatrice) but there was an aspect to it I had not realized. She was very frustrated she couldn't take care of her own child. She had to give birth to a body that was not living, and she was overwhelmed with that process, and she wanted to take care of her living child, the one she had bonded with, but she was separated from him.

It's really surprising there are not more stories about the complexities of childbirth.

I'm glad Call the Midwife exists.

I need a crystal.

Maybe it was a projection, but I thought I saw someone who is now gone a few weeks ago. I really thought so. Just standing across the street, smiling. I went straight inside and didn't come out for the rest of the evening. It is a risk, maybe to talk about people coming back to live other lives. Maybe someone might use it to give themselves permission to leave too early. Is it possible? It is.

What else

Saltwater (Original) by Chicane

Takes time to figure things out...

I think healers are some of the most happy and fulfilled people I have ever met. I have encountered other creative people and they also have their purpose, and I feel like it is possible that I could be a quiet intermediary...I think maybe it's even more (what is the word, something like challenging whatisit) work perhaps to change yourself to be a healer...sometimes healers lie on the beach all day.

Seems true

"Successful" people need to take care of themselves like the "unsuccessful" ones need to. Success at life...

Creative people can have a lot of personalities.

Someday you might find a creative person and some of the stuff he says is horrifying,  and probably on purpose.

Adults should be better than that, but they're not because they have rampant inner children.

Oh god stuff again

"Follow God" is what they say but why is something telling me some peoples' is a pig to women.

I think that has a lot of jargon.

"I'm a little voice crying out for help trapped in a sexist religious belief system."

"Sometimes a boy voice, sometimes a girl voice."

I love to clean.
I love to clean.
I love to clean.
I love to clean.

I think A LOT of things could be fixed if this wasn't so f'ed up.

Search housecleaning images again.

I remember living on an island and going to people's houses in 5th grade. They were software company people. (It was a small company). They were nice to kids, and I liked being around them. I thought I would do that kind of work when I grew up, but I didn't know it involved more than joking around and eating fish and chips at a conference table. The kids were kids and the adults were adults but they could still laugh at similar kinds of jokes or stories, and also the "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego"game was in there somewhere and both the kids and adults played it or talked about it. (I think I mostly just watched.)  I just started to wonder, what if there were another circle like that where people could meet and pick out a favorite story from their childhood and say why and what effect it had on them? Well, that's slightly more structured than what was...
