Cold veather

A simple pleasure: to listen to the Xmas present CD with a bunch of songs you might feel lukewarm about on the first try, but soon you will love to replay them (happens every time.)

"I heard the Oysters song on my iPod shuffle. It sounded decent."

Cool.

This is long, and I think it is very good:

Thinking of an old song...

Sesame Street 1970's Pinball Animation

I find it a little bit messed up that I had to watch a whole trailer for a horror movie ("The Woman In Black 2") before I got to see the happy pinball song. I guess even a four year old will have to see that if he or she clicks on the video. And I remember that as a four year old, I loved Picture Pages and was scared of a hash brown commercial because that man was so mean to his wife. (I must admit, it doesn't look that way to me now. I half-wonder if there was a different, scarier one.) It's crazy. The TV character I liked turns out to have been so abusive to women, while the one I was scared of sounds like he has been a really great guy in real life. Oh, the irony.

Well, I think I'll go color something.

My eyelid is swollen

Yesterday I went to the store and the checkout lady was a bit brusque. A guy came over and talked to her and she said something about not wanting any Paparazzi...I'm sure she didn't...it made me go home and look up Paparazzi...good for Lady Gaga for being Lady Gaga...maybe they were talking about...

I had a dream I was with an author and another woman. I didn't say much. I rode with them across a body of water on a ferry. We had to get out of some severely stormy weather while we were on the boat. Then we got to land, and it was okay. After a little while, I started to speak. I was thinking aloud about a funny "A Very Sexy Christmas" album I heard at a holiday gathering some time ago. The author said, "Did you enjoy it?" She meant not just the album, but the gathering. I said, "Yes I did." Then I woke up. I was searching for any links to that funny album, but instead I found an old 2009 e-mail where I briefly discussed going to the gathering and being found out as a "Werewolf." I looked up Werewolf. Was there another werewolf? Am I making this stuff up...

A cold fact

I like that Searching for Sugar Man film. I couldn't watch the end of it. Maybe the crowds all around him were making me nervous. It's cool that he could deal with that though...I think that my body may beam in search of wombyn's healing arts...At this little moment I am so very happy not to be having stabbing pains in my uterus. Unlike last night and even for a little bit this morning, I am so, so happy and grateful. This is true.

Not on twitter, do read it sometimes, enjoyed this tweet, started thinking that anyone who gets more worked up by certain boring scenarios (ex: fruitlessly complaining to bosses about sexual harrassment that no one actually wants to deal with, including the harrasee) maybe deserves a few...

Hmmm, that link taught me about the marshmallow test. I disliked marshmallows as a child...

Shostakovich ~ Symphony No. 5 / Movement 2

What I never knew...

http://www.pbs.org/keepingscore/video-shostakovich.html

Ha ha ha

This is like....the new David Lynch film?

BABY! LOVE YOUR BODY!

Y: That was weird, and you are weird for showing it to me.
X: What? I found it in a Vice article
Y: What country is it from?
X: Well, it said it went viral in France.
Y: I'm ordering pizza.

"While the video is a bit weird and confusing, in all honesty, if your three-year-old is roaming around Youtube unsupervised, there are roughly 5 million more videos that are going to fuck with their heads more than 'Baby! Love Your Body!'"

Autobio Lately

I have had bad dreams.
I have read good books.
KNOWLEDGE KNOWLEDGE KNOWLEDGE
Why does no one ever listen to me
I am so tired of being like a Cassandra or something!
Why can't I just be like a normal person and blissfully stupid?
I'm sorry/not sorry.
No, I'm sorry, I just need to work on my language facultative capabilities.
It gets better.
Okay, I'm going for a walk now, bye.

How to spend several hours

Today's the day to renew the health insurance so it doesn't expire.
I am told to call a number for forms.
I call a number. (#1) I answer the options. I get redirected and wait...
Someone who clearly hates her job tells me that she does not have the information I need. I despise her tone of voice. Perhaps she despises mine. I do try very hard to be nice.
She gives me another number. (#2) I wait...and wait...and wait...
I lose patience and hang up. Anyways, I have to reorganize to find any and all possible case #s (I have two different ones so far) pin numbers, etc. No sense in doing all that waiting only to be told I need to call back with additional information.
This is a good time to eat icecream...JUST KIDDING!
This is a good time to crack open a tupperware container of coffee.
Beautiful coffee grounds all over the kitchen floor.
This is a good time to dump the remaining grounds in a pot on the stove, strain it into coffee, and dump the remains on the tomato plant (the rains brought forth one little tomato. So green and trying to be born off a dying vine.)
It's a glorious, dreary day outside. I love this weather. It's like Seattle!
What in the heck is going on with that palm tree trunk growing out of the sidewalk across the street? How did I never notice it before.
Mmmm, feel the cold frosty 57 degree air.
Okay.
Drink some coffee.
Call a different number! (#3) This one has people that pick up right away and are always nice!
It takes very little time to talk to someone. He does not sound like he hates his job. Indeed, he is nice.
He gives me the strength to go on...
He gives me another number. (#4)
Another number I have taken pains to copy down correctly, and it is also the number I have on another document from my health insurance company.
Unfortunately, this number (#4) is out of service...
So now...
Back to number #2....
"We are experiencing a high call volume at this time. Please try your call again later."
Okay.
Either I will get lucky and the forms will come in the mail, or I will pick a DPSS office, go there in person, and get them or get told which office to go to...

He who opens the Trader Joe's Cranberry Juice bottle shall be forgiven for watching a shallow male-driven comedy full of one-dimensional female characters with earphones on (for extra special cider with mulling spices and cranberry juice...)

people have the capacity to walk the earth and get really heavy about stuff, huh...

Hmmm

"Here in the United States, we continually examine teaching data to understand why other countries are doing better than we are. One thing nobody ever talks about is that teachers in the U.S. have a larger workload than teachers in almost any other country. According to the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development, the average secondary school teacher in the U.S. puts in 1,051 instructional hours per year. Instructional hours are the hours spent actually in front of kids—in other words, about half of the job, the other half being time spent planning, grading and collaborating with other teachers. In Finland, the average teacher teaches 553 instructional hours per year. In Korea, 609 hours. In England, 695. In Japan, 510."

(Why I and my special body will never be...)

Winter lyric

Comes to mind, wandering around Toys R Us aisles.

I hear a voice
"You must learn to stand up for yourself
Cause I can't always be around"

 I guess I think it's a universal mother.

Shapes

Hope for future: partings will be less unpleasant. No need to make yourself nauseated. Sigh. ALSO. To the healing powers of nature. ANYBODY can get a boost from nature. I do believe it is so.

But sometimes people can be...

Brave.

Someone who responds to this: http://the-toast.net/2014/12/10/bad-victims/ dismissively, caustically, cynically, insensitively, who used to be a friendly happy seeming sort of fellow, who is married with daughters, likes nature, and now is gonna be working as a campus police officer, and has to keep feeling oppressed and saying a bunch of stuff that implies that he thinks that most of the rape victims are lying? I don't know why must a person be like that. Right now, I have no energy to engage with those forces. The depression, in denial, anger, society-just-lets-it-slide forces. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry if I am one of the ones doing that...so I will try to not do that too by at least saying...

I am grateful. For the bravery. Thank you.

More than anything...

Just threw up. Hope I feel better now.

Have seen some things on the internet...

That make me say thank you for taking the time to care about something difficult and yet important to address. (These are not the only things, but they are three.)

"Over the past two weeks, our community has been more focused than ever on one of the most difficult and critical issues facing higher education today: sexual violence on college campuses. Today’s news must not alter this focus.

We will continue to take a hard look at our practices, policies and procedures, and continue to dedicate ourselves to becoming a model institution in our educational programming, in the character of our student culture, and in our care for those who are victims."

The Turtles - Happy Together - 1967

We're so sorry

A head

A head attached to a body can ache very painfully after it's been on the internet and omg, ROLLING STONE. Will you please try not to unnecessarily treat people who are already suffering like shit? Just try.
Also, I never wanna be like A."Catty Noir" Banks after her dumb "pudding pop" comment. Ever.

Off to the rest of life now.

Yep....

Pain can override any song, story, poem, TV show, movie.
Pain is all like...Gotta get focused on healing~~~
http://www.mypersonalescape.com/search_detail.php?i=1&rid=38

That time last night

It was after a screaming time. 10 minutes of insane pain. WTF severely severe dysmenorrhea. Afterward I googled morphine. It looked really good! I don't want to live that way....

This Rhythm is a Dancer video was better afterwards.

I hope it's not as serious as....

Dysthymia

Dear man at retail store,

Your outrage at some kinds of injustice in society does not give you the right to physically grope and sexually harass your female employees. Also, you being the father of a teenage daughter does not disqualify you from treating your female coworkers with respect.

Dear female bosses of man at retail store,

Is it really so hard to even give the guy a warning when he gropes and sexually harasses his female employees? Why can you not be proactive about at least giving the guy a warning, if nothing else?

Dear female bosses everywhere
Dear male bosses everywhere

Do not let that situation continue if it comes to your workplace.

I bet if that happened in an after school special, the guy would be reprimanded right away, right?

Life is not an afterschool special.

Dear society,

You are doing the bare minimum.
